CONTROL BLOOD PRESSURE (BP) WITH TELMISARTAN :NEW RISK

New new anti hypertensive  drugs are  flooded in market . One class of drug is angiotensin receptor blocker  (ARB ) also refered as sartans . There are many sartan like olmesartan ,losartan , candisartan ,telmisartan  ,valsartan etc .These drug cause less side effect like cough . Different pharma company  promising differently while marketing apecific type Sartan . They try to hide the adverse effects of their molecule .Physician also donot have much time to study each new molecule or not updated by genuine resource.

Telmisartan is still costly since it is under patent . However  Telmisartan is associated with a modestly increased risk for cancer according to a meta analysis published in lancet oncology (journal).When cancer type was analyzed  it was found that lung cancer risk was significantly increased . Hence use of Telmisartan should be restricted only to those patient intolerant to other antihypertensives .
